CHAPTER 72

“So you mean your boyfriend Peter doesn’t recharge your phone?” Onyabehi asked, Blessing began to laugh. “No talk na, why are you laughing you’re equally guilty.” she asked Blessing.

“What of Obekpa have you been speaking with him?” Blessing asked.
“Yeah we do chat from time to time.” Onyabehi said.

“Did you tell him? Does he know?” Blessing asked.
“Tell him what?” Onyabehi asked with raised brow. “I don’t owe anyone any explanation.”

“Okay, she looks like him.” Blessing continued.
“What? Stop it Blessing did you just want to provoke me?” Onyabehi asked.

“You cannot intimidate me, I am not afraid of you, instead why don’t you leave the man. After all he didn’t even pay anything on your head. According to tradition you’re not his wife, nobody at his kolanut.” Blessing said with her arms folded across her boobs.

The two ladies spoke for hours at her house, Onyabehi got to know that Peter had finally proposed to Blessing.

” I hope you’ll come for my traditional wedding.” Blessing said
” So would you have told me, if I had not come to Ojigo would you have remembered to inform me?” Onyabehi asked grumpily.

“Haba na it was only last week that we did the introduction, moreover I tried to call you, your number wasn’t reachable.”Blessing said.

” Are you sure? ” Onyabehi asked her.
” For sure why would I lie to you?” She asked her friend.
At about eight P. M Blessing saw Onyabehi back home. They promised to see the next day.

Ene had taken Ogwuche to another prayer house. It was the third they had visited since the first prophetess made the revelation.

” You have to do a one week prayer and fasting, the devil had destroyed your destiny. I see death hanging over your head and that of your family. You have to pray.”thr prophet said to Ogwuche.

“I’ve been fasting and praying for months, is it that God isn’t listening to me? Is it that my father is too strong?” Ogwuche asked in anger.

“Ogwuche mind your language!” Ene warned her son.”Don’t talk to the prophet that way!”

Ogwuche got up angry, he stormed away from the his mother and the prophet. He went to a far part of the church and leaned his face against the wall and cried.

“Madam you have to be prayerful for your son. I see the Web of darkness all around him. Its not just what you believe.” The prophet said.

“Who wants to kill my son.” Ene asked the prophet, fear had gripped her heart. “Is it my husband?”

“No it’s not your husband.” He said. “I don’t know why, but just tell him to be very prayerful.” He said Ogwuche was still crying. The prophet left Ene and went to Ogwuche.

“My son I know you have seen a lot. This is not the time to cry, this is the time to draw closer to God.”He said his hand resting on Ogwuche’s shoulder.” God is the only one that can return your destiny and advert the dead I see on your head.”
The prophet said.

” Let us go to the altar of God I want to pray for you. You’ll continue this prayer forget who you suspect or what you think you know. Just go to God in prayers.” Ene knelt with Ogwuche, the man of God prayed for him.

” You should be prayerful. Remember the fasting.” Ogwuche nodded.

” Thank you Prophet how much are we to pay? ” she said getting up on her feet.
The prophet smiled.” Why will you pay me? ” He asked her.

“Just be prayerful the Lord is on your side.” Ogwuche followed behind his mother with a crestfallen face, and a sunken heart, words couldn’t explain his misery. He prayed as the pastor said. The night mares where just too much he couldn’t close his eyes at night.

His grandfather who had died for over twenty years had appeared in his dream. “Ogwuche why are you sleeping wake up. You have brought shame to my name, I can no longer protect you.

You’re now on your own.” The old man said, Ogwuche kept sweating profusely, his body was so hot like a pot, that was just dropped from the fire.

“Grand pa please help me. I cannot help myself.”Ogwuche said crying holding unto the hem lace kaftan his grandfather had wore on the day he was buried.

” Leave alone Ogwuche leave me alone! You were meant to be the light! But you allow shame come on my name.” The old man disappeared.

Two black humanoids who stood ten feet tall, with sharp white shining blades on their hands, growled, Ogwuche’s eyes met their eyes, a cold flowed through his span. He began to run through the wood as the beast chased after him.

No matter how fast he ran, the beast were always at his back, he ran from the darkness into a bright light, he kept seeing people he knew go about their businesses, he cried for help, but none of them could see him and the best were ever getting near him, he struggling in his bed.

He ran back into the bush, the beast met up with him, a sharp stinging cut on his back sent him sprawling to the ground. He was crawling like a wild animal, the sword in the hands of the beast, grew longer as they walked close to Ogwuche.

“You have come to your end.” The beast said in a thunderous voice. Ogwuche raised his head to look at the menacing creature standing behind him, putrid odour like cow dung filled his nostrils, he knew no way to go,

The small beast stood behind the giant one, the sword rose to the air, it was lowered down on Ogwuche’s neck, and removed it neatly, his eyes were still wide open as the best rolled on the floor, blood covered the whole ground. The smaller beast came forward and picked Ogwuche’s head.

Ene ran outside of the family house and went to Ogwuche’s room, the loud screaming from his room had made his mother and siblings jolt out of the main house to see what was happening to him. “Ogwuche, Ogwuche come and open the door!” Ene called without getting any response.

“Please na Ogwuche don’t do this come and open the door.” She cried, his sibling were all in tears. They feared that something could have happened to him, they called severally but didn’t get any reply.
