CHAPTER 79

Two weeks later Dooshima had made up her mind ,she waited for Terdue to drop by for a sleepover,lucky for her it wasn’t many days before he dropped by with a new set of food stuffs. A carton of frozen chicken , packs of oil and cartons of noodles and spaghetti.

“Won’t you spend your night here ?” Dooshima asked hoping he would, he stared at her face with a suspicious smile .

“Do you have a treat for me ? ” Terdue asked giggling. “I will stay if you want me to…” Dooshima didn’t allow him to complete his statement.

“Stay please I’ve something I want to tell you .”Dooshima said eagerly. Terdue held Dooshima close to him ,chest to chest he looked into her eyes .

“Tell me what you want to tell me now I don’t like suspense.” Terdue said holding on to her arms. “Tell me please.” Dooshima moved away from him into her kitchen .

“Would you give me a hand ?” Dooshima said , he helped her to chop some vegetables.
“Dooshima you cook so good , I was thinking an Ajebota like you wouldn’t know anything about cooking.”

Terdue said sincerely, Dooshima chuckled, she thanked mama Amos each time her food was praised, Dooshima had continued cooking for Mama Amos, since she was still bedridden.

“Mama Amos is to be praised , I didn’t know how to fix noodles before I came here , she spent her time to teach me all the secrets of cooking .” Dooshima said with a smile on her lips .

“Well she did a good job a fine girl ,who knows how to cook .”He said still slicing the Ugwu leaf . “Dooshima I’ve been meaning to ask you , since we started dating …” Terdue mumbled.

“What is it you want to ask ?” Dooshima looked up at Terdues face ,she could sense his discomfort. “Come on ?” She asked .

“Well I’ve been meaning to ask you if you completed your university education?” Terdue asked , Dooshima smiled .

“You were acting as if you had a taboo question to ask .” Dooshima said laughing , as she dropped the stuck fish into the pot . “Yeah I graduated from BSU , I was about to go into law school before I took in , that’s in the past .” Dooshima said staring her pot of Egusi .

“That’s not past , you have to pick the form for law school ,I knew you had nrain.” Terdue said laughing . “I’ll make sure you join the next set.” He said , he had a friend I’m Bwari living near the law school Abuja , he would ask him if their form was still ok sales . They are together with Shiana .

While watching a movie , coiled around each other in Dooshima’s one room self contain, Terdue popped the question again .

“Terdue I’ve been delaying my response, not because I don’t love you. But because I have been feeling inferior , I don’t think am good enough .” Dooshima said calmly .

“What?” Terdue asked surprised. “That’s nonsense Dooshima.” He chuckled . “You’re smart , you’re intelligent.” He said , Dooshima laughed as Shiana grumbled in her sleep and continued sleeping.

“And I am a single mum , are you sure my mum is going to accept me ?”Dooshima asked .

“Yeah I’ll convince her , and tell her you’re the love of my life , she wants me to be happ. Dooshima I want us to build a family the three of us .” Terdue said with all sincerity.

“Please don’t break my heart Terdue , I’ve been through a lot of pains and heartbreak enough for a lifetime , just because of one mistake . If you think your mum won’t approve of you marrying a single mother please don’t start what you cannot finish.” She said calmly. He coiled his arms around her tighter and kissed her cheeks.

“Dooshima I am a man of my word ,you can take it to the bank and do your transactions .” He said and they laughed together at his joke .

“I will marry you Terdue Samuel .” Terdue didn’t care that it was a few minutes to twelve , he screamed with joy , he lifted Dooshima up and spin with her round her like a baby .

“Thank you , thank you Dooshima I won’t waste this opportunity. “He promised , he kissed Dooshima on her forehead . “I love you , you and me together for life .”

The weather was so cold , it had rained the whole night ,the couple slept together ,in a sweet embrace Terdue’s arms locked around Dooshima’s waist ,after they had made love .

The next morning Terdue took his bath , he had to go home and changed his clothes for work . Dooshima was seeing him off to his car , parked inside the compound by six A.M ,when they ran into Amos .

He had a smirk on his face , though the day was still a bit dark , Dooshima could see the mischievous smile on his face. “Chairman Chairman , because you now have a girlfriend you’re abandoning your guys abi?” Amos asked .

“Calm down bro I’ve been busy with work .”Terdue said . “Bro Dooshima said yes to me , she’s going to marry me .”Terdue said to his best friend. Dooshima wasn’t comfortable with the idea of him Terdue telling Amos .She planted her eyes on her feet ,she couldn’t look at Amos face .

“Wow brother am so happy for you .” Amos said and embraced Terdue . “Finally you got the woman of your dream, though she has a baggage .” He said with a nonsensical half smile buttered acros his face.

He and Dooshima saw Terdue to his car . Terdue handed a brown envelope to Dooshima. “Us that to get yourself new clothes and new shoes ,

please babe also make a new hair , on Saturday I’ll take you to go and see my mother, he got out of the car and kissed Dooshima’s lips as Amos clapped ,still smiling.

Dooshima waited for Terdue to drive out of the compound, then she turned to go back into her room ,to get Shiana ready for school. Amos grabbed her hand .
