MY COMFORT ZONE EPISODES 11-20

PRINCESS STORIES

Episode 16

Belinda didn’t feel sleepy after the general midnight prayers. After several times of tossing around the bed, she decided to open her Bible to read. She would probably sleep off after reading a verse or two.
She opened her Bible from the middle and landed in the book of Job.

“He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.” She read from a particular chapter. She turned to her husband who was sleeping peacefully beside her and placed her right hand on his forehand.

“From today onwards, the Lord shall stand up for you and disappoint the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise against you, in the name of Jesus.” She prayed as led in her heart. She removed her hands from his head and turned to sleep but the prayer kept ringing in her heart.

“O Lord disappoint the devices of the crafty, so that their hands will not perform their enterprise against my family, in the name of Jesus.” She prayed as heard in her heart.
After about 5 minutes of repeating the same prayer, she felt a level of peace in her heart and then let herself sleep off.

Dan wore his shades as soon as he packed beside an uncompleted building.

“Hello, I’m at the said address. Where are you?” He said over the phone. He got no reply; instead the person at the other end cut the call.
After about three minutes of waiting, he saw someone jump from the uncompleted building.

“Mr. Daniels?” The stranger walked up to him and asked. Daniel nodded a yes.

“Come with me.” He said and immediately Dan got out of his car to follow him.
They went through several corners before getting to what looked like a very small room filled with smoke. Dan would’ve been terrified at this view, but thanks to his friend Rick- it more of less looked like Baba’s room.

“I heard you need my assistance on wiping someone from the face of this earth.” A voice which made Dan hiver spoke.

“Y…yes. Da…David is his name. Mr. David Daberechi.” Dan said and handed his picture to the stranger that led him in, who in turn handed it over to his boss in the smoke.

“When do you want this done?” He heard the voice say. At this point Dan could see the face of the person behind the smoke. He found it hard to believe it was a young man of roughly 27 years that hard such terrific voice that scared him.

“In two days time”

“That’s Friday. Why Friday?”

“I took an excuse to be here. I want to be in office while the accident occurs, so nothing would be traced to me.” Dan said and the leader nicknamed TOYO nodded satisfactorily.

“Okay, that’s smart. Consider it done.” Toyo said

“Finally.” Dan said in his heart as he gave an outward smile.

David was done with work for the day. He locked his office and handed the keys over to his secretary before heading out to car park to go home.

While driving, he decided to tune to a radio station. As at the time he tuned in, they were about closing a particular program.

“So my dear listeners, do not be ignorant of the devices of the enemy. We’re going to pray now. Our closing prayer is going to be taken from the book of 2nd Timothy Chapter 4……let’s take it from verse 18.” The preacher said. David’s attention was divided as he tried to concentrate on the road more.

“In Jesus name we have prayed, Amen. Brethren the Lord said there’s someone listening to me this evening. Your attention was divided so you couldn’t pray the prayer we just prayed. Right now, the Lord is creating circumstances around you so you can have time to pray this prayer with me because your life depends on it.” The preacher said and David turned to give the radio a questioning look. Just as the preacher had said, there was traffic jam and all cars in his lane came to a temporary halt.

“O Lord, deliver me from every evil work, in the name of Jesus.” David whispered as he prayed along with the preacher.

“In Jesus name we have prayed. Amen, Amen, Amen. Brethren I feel it in my spirit that that person the Lord has been waiting for to pray this prayer has done so. Please if you’re that brother or sister, don’t forget to repeat this same prayer before you go to bed and also pray this particular prayer point as frequently as possible.

Please do not forget. Until I come your way next time, remain blessed!” The preacher said and a Christian song followed, indicating the evening program had finally come to a close. Just then, the traffic began to ease up.

It was at this point that it hit Dave- the preacher was talking about him. The sudden traffic jam and its quick ease just as soon as they were done praying confirmed this.
“Wow, God really works in mysterious ways!” He exclaimed as he praised God throughout the rest of his drive home.

MY COMFORT ZONE

Belinda was home alone the same evening. Having nothing else to do after she had cooked for the family, she decided to take advantage of her alone time and pray.
After whispering a short prayer, she picked up her Bible to read.

“Genesis 11.” She recalled a scripture she had read in a devotional back in the office. She opened to the chapter and read to some point.

“When the people of the earth were of one language and decided to do something against God’s will, what did God say about it?” A voice asked in her spirit as she diligently searched the first verses of the chapter for answers.

“Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this the begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.” She read from her Bible

“Read on.” The voice urged.

“Go to, let us go down and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” She read from the verse that followed.

“Now use these verses to pray for your husband.” The voice instructed and thereafter stopped talking.

“Use these verses to prayer for my husband? But how? I don’t know how to do that.” She whispered in thoughts. Just then, there was a knock on the door and she got distracted.

“Honey we’re home.” A voice which she recognized to be her husband’s said. She quickly dropped the Bible and reached for the door.

“Welcome mummy.” Gift said with a warm hug down below as she received a brief welcome kiss up above (Hehehe….sorry continue reading (emoji))

Belinda quickly dished the food she had prepared and they all ate quietly.
After eating the couple retired to their room while Gift went to hers.

In the Master’s bedroom, Belinda noticed her husband pacing up and down the room and that was so unusual of him.

“Is something up?” She asked after she had observed his movements for a while.

“No nothing. Am I disturbing you?” He asked. Belinda folded her arms beneath her chest and gave him a stare.

“You’re not disturbing me, but whatever it is you’re doing is. I mean we’re meant to be observing our siesta by now and we do that cuddling each other to sleep. But now we can’t because my husband is keeping something that’s obviously disturbing him to himself; maybe because he now feels he can hide things from me.” Belinda said and gave him a look that made him chuckle a bit.

“Hey enough with the look. I’m sorry, okay?” He said, coming up to bed and gave her a peck.

“I was actually praying.”

“Without me?” She asked with a pout.

“Smiles…I didn’t want to disturb you.”

“Disturb me abeg, I’m your ehmmm….” Belinda thought and they both laughed heartily.

“Your transformer?” David suggested with a chuckle.

“Habaaaa….how did transformer and television relate in this context?”

“Ehnnnn….it’s sha something NEPA disturbs everyday to give us light.”

“Na lie joor. Disturb me, I’m your television. I think that goes better.” Belinda said

“Okay okay, I get the point. I’ll tell you wassup.” David said and Belinda paid rapt attention as he narrated his experience at the traffic that afternoon.

“Wow…hmmm”

“Yes, and the funny thing is the prayer reminded me of a dream where I was stabbed by a friend I was walking closely with, someone I didn’t expect would do such a thing to me.” David said. Belinda thought about what he had just said for a while.

“Is there someone that has been unnecessarily close to you in your office lately?” She asked. David chuckled at her question.

“A lot of people are close to me at my place of work. I mean they all see me as a good man so….” David said but she wasn’t satisfied with his reply.

“Think babe, think deeply…”

“Hmmm…..there’s someone that has been coming so close these days. For the past two months now he’s been very friendly to me. But that’s nothing, right? Since he’s a long-time friend.”

“What’s his name?”

“Daniel. He’s a friend of mine. We’ve been friends for long even before I got the job. Infact, he was the one that introduced me to this company.” David said. Belinda had opened her mouth to say something but changed her mind.

“Continue, I’m listening.”

“What else is there to say? Okay, few years later God favoured me and the manager made me the head of my department.”

“And Daniel?”

“He’s still where he was since I came into the company.”

“And you think he’s happy with you.”

“Why sure! Why not?” Dave said as Belinda stared amusingly at her husband.

“I’m tempted to laugh but this is a serious matter. I mean look at this: your friend that brought you into the company he’s been in for years, hasn’t smelt promotion for some years now, and in your mind, he’s happy with you?”

“Ah ah, was it by my doing I got promoted? I wasn’t expecting it now, it’s just God’s favor upon my life.” David said and Belinda shook her head for a while before speaking

“Wisdom they say is profitable to direct, my darling. Okay let me ask this: what was his reaction when he heard the news of your promotion?”

“He was startled at first when I told him, and congratulated me.”

“And didn’t show any sign of jealously.”

“No na, jealous of what?” David asked.

“That you got a promotion so fast of course. From what you’re telling me, he just started coming close to you about two months ago. What that means is that he has been keeping his distance since and….” Belinda was speaking when they heard a knock on their door.

“Baby what is it? You should be observing your siesta by now.” Belinda said as Gift walked in.

“Yes I was, until I had a dream about Dad.” The child said and the couple exchanged looks.

“Tell us dear, we’re listening.”

“In the dream, daddy was going home with someone and when daddy wasn’t looking, the person stabbed him.” Gift said

“Who stabbed him?” Her mother asked

“The person he was walking with in my dream.” Gift said and the couple exchanged looks for the second time.

“This person, was it a man or a woman?” David curiously asked

“A man.” The girl replied.

“Was he fair or dark?” He asked again.

“Ehmm…he was not too fair, neither was he too dark.” She replied

“Is he tall or short?” He asked as Belinda gave him a questioning look.

“Okay I don’t think that information is necessary. Gift baby you can go to your room now, we’ll pray about your dream in the night.” Belinda said

“But why not now?”

“Because it isn’t our prayer time yet. Our hour of prayer is in the midnight.”

“But Aunty Rachel said we don’t have to wait for our hour of prayer before praying concerning an issue. She also said we should learn to give our active time to God.”

“I don’t understand dear, can you please explain better?”

“Okay…she said for example if your idle time is around 7pm and we don’t happen to sleep at that time, but rather press phone or watch T.V., that is our active time and it’d be more convenient to convert it to our prayer time. She said it’s better that way instead of waiting to 10pm when we know your body is very weak and the temptation to sleep is 100%.” Gift explained as her parents nodded in understanding.

“You have a valid point there. We do more of sleeping than praying in our hour of prayer because at that time we’re very exhausted and our body needs rest. It’s better to push it to a time we’re all awake and active doing nothing. That way, our prayer life would be effective and we’d easily be consistent! That’s a very good idea o, abi how do you see it?” Belinda said and asked her husband.

“I think so too. So when is our active period?”

“7pm!” Gift said

“8pm!” David said.

“Hmmmm….sometimes we have our dinner by 7pm so that one is ruled out. 8pm? Hmmm…..I think that’s a better time because…what do we do by that time exactly?” Belinda turned to her husband to ask.

“Nothing really. I think at that time Gift is playing some game in her room, while we’re have some random talks in the sitting room.” David replied.

“Good, that’s our idle and active time then. We can easily convert it to our prayer time. At least no one would be tired or feeling sleepy at that time.” Belinda said.

“I think that’s a good idea.” David said

“Me too!” Gift said in excitement.

“Alright dear. Thank you for that idea, it was wonderful.” Belinda said and playfully rubbed her daughter’s cheeks.

“It’s not my idea, it’s Aunty Rachel’s.”

“Ehn ehn? Ngwanu thank her for us when you get to school tomorrow.” Belinda said and with that Gift left for her room after a short prayer together.
