MY COMFORT ZONE : EPISODES 21 – THE END OF SEASON 1

Princess Stories

Episode 23

Belinda could be seen late in the evening in tears. She couldn’t hold it any longer. She was losing patience and faith that her husband would come home in one piece.

“Mummy daddy will come home soon. Someone assured me in my dream.” Was all she had been hearing from her daughter for some time now but she was beginning to lose hope.

She was in her state of despair when her phone rang.

“Hello Mrs. Daberechi, any news yet?” Was the question thrown at her by David’s manager the moment she picked his call.

“No Sir, not at all.” She managed to reply with a shaky voice.

“I can imagine what you’re going through at this difficult period, but I want to assure you that all is well. Your husband will be back, and in one piece. Just take heart and be strong, okay.” He said and Belinda sniffed silently.

“Okay Sir. Thank you so much for your concern Sir, it is very much appreciated.”

Rachel was observing her quiet time that night. As she grew in the Lord, her desire to fellowship with the Holy Spirit increased so much that she turns every idle moment to her ‘mini’ quiet time. One of such moments was at night, just before sleep comes knocking.

She worshipped with songs by her favorite gospel artistes for about ten minutes, and busted into tongues. As she prayed, her spirit kept going back to the congregation at the fellowship in school.

Not understanding what the revelation meant, she ignored and kept praying. The more she ignored, the more she saw the fellowship students.

After sometime, a particular name she was familiar with rang in her heart. She immediately remembered a student had come asked for prayers concerning an issue.

“Yes, Gift…that’s her name.” She thought within. Without being told, she went into intercessory prayers for Gift and her family.

MY COMFORT ZONE : EPISODES 21 – THE END OF SEASON 1

It was 2am. David and Festus had just finished praising and worshipping God about 10minutes ago.

Festus has already slept off but David was nowhere close to sleeping. He kept staring at Festus in deep wonder.

“If a boy as little as this can bring down the presence of God in ordinary praise and worship, then it means I’ve been playing games and haven’t really been serious about my Christian life.” He reasoned.

Festus’ attitude towards God so far had him convinced that you do not need any person to go to God on your behalf- you can pray and get answers yourself, communicate with God yourself, and provoke His presence through your worship yourself!

It marveled him greatly that he hadn’t really taken the time to know God for Himself, or understand the kind of relationship God wants to have with us His children.

“For the past 20years of being a Christian, I’ve not seen anyone being this close to God.

Truly, God isn’t meant for pastors or preachers alone!” David reasoned as he nodded his head

“Is something wrong sir?” Festus asked. David looked startled; he thought Festus was fast asleep.

“No nothing’s wrong.” David managed to reply

“Then why aren’t you sleeping? This is past 2am already.” Festus asked, looking at his wristwatch

“Well, it feels like sleep has deserted me.” David said and Festus sat up.

“Why Sir?” Festus asked.

“Nothing son. I’m just thinking of my spiritual life. Compared to yours, it feels I’ve been a vain Christian for years.

Can you believe I can’t pray as much as you do, and God doesn’t talk to me either.

Unlike you, I don’t have dreams or receive directions on what to do whenever I pray concerning anything bothering me or my family.

Infact at a point in my life, I was solely dependent on a fellow Christian to hear from God on behalf of myself and my family.

She passed on not long ago and it felt like all hell was let loose against us- my wife lost her job, I got demoted in my place of work, and my daughter’s sickness worsened.”

“Hmmm…”

“We were stuck and confused for months. It was a painful period, especially for my wife because she was affected more than the rest of us.

Right now, we’re starting from the scratch and practicing prayer but for the few days you’ve been here with me, I can tell we’re nowhere close to where God wants us to be as a family.” David said and sighed sadly.
There was silence for a while.

“But how come? A ten years old boy like you, being able to pray and get answers from God without the assistance of a pastor or minister?” David asked and Festus smiled broadly.

“My dad.”

“Your dad?”

“Yes! He thought me prayer experientially. He’d always wake me and my sister up late in the night to pray for at least 15 mins before he’d allow us sleep back.

When we questioned why he was doing so, he said we needed to be well fortified with the necessary weapons to fight the battles of life that we’d face sooner or later.”

“Hmm..wow. Now that’s an intentional father.” David remarked as Festus smiled.

“At first my sister and I were confused. I was 5, my sister 13 so we couldn’t comprehend what he meant by that. What I was thinking was that one day we’d be recruited into the army force and be brought to the battlefield to fight.” Festus said and at this point David chuckled.
