Episode 3

Mrs. Belinda was on her bed with her eyes closed when her husband walked in
“My pregnant wife. Mother of my two children and the ones on the way.” David hailed and planted a kiss on her lips. Belinda couldn’t help but blush.

“What were you up to before I walked in?” He asked.

“Nothing.” She replied

“But I was thinking about reading my Bible before you walked in.”

“Hmm…you and reading your Bible sef.” David remarked.

“See leave me o biko. Ever since my sister introduced me to other versions apart from King James, my wordlife has changed o. Asin ehn, she shared one Bible app with me and since then, I’ve been downloading all sorts of versions, to be honest.”

“Ehn ehn, tell me more.”

“Which one is tell me more? I shared the app with you before na.”

“Yeah you did, but I’ve never really sat down to operate it.”

“Toor. Shaaaaa, there’s Message Translation, Easy, God’s Word, Amplified, Amplified Classic, New Living Translation, and the list goes on. I can’t even say which is my favourite because to be honest, they’ve all blessed my life tremendously. I’ve even become more eager to read and study the Word.”

“Hmmm…this one you’re talking about this app like this, I’ll settle to read the versions in the app later.”

“Why not now? Are you busy?”

“No, not really. I came to spend some time with you.” David said and Belinda curved a smile.

“Good then, let’s read the word together.” Belinda suggested and searched for her phone.

“Here. Pick any version of your choice and read aloud to my hearing.” Belinda said. David took the phone from her. As David began to read, Belinda prayed in her heart.

“Holy Spirit please I need you to speak to me and direct me as my husband reads the Word to the both of us. I acknowledge you this day, and ask that you take total preeminence over your word this evening, in the name of Jesus.”

“Get up! Cry out at night, every hour on the hour. Pour your heart out like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him in prayer for the lives of your little children who faint from hunger at every street corner.” David read subconsciously and at that moment, Belinda’s eyes flew open.

“Wait wait wait wait wait! Read that part again.”

“Which one?”

“The one you just read now.”

“Oh okay.” David said and repeated the verse.

“Wait o, I don’t understand. Is that in Proverbs, abi where are you reading from?”

“Lamentations.”

“Lamentations how? I thought we just agreed to read Proverbs?”

“Hia! When did you tell me that one kwanu?”

“Ah ah! I told you now, abi didn’t………It doesn’t matter. What you just read now, that I should get up in the night and cry out for the lives of my children is in Lamentations?”

“Yes nw. That’s where I’m reading from.”

“Wait let me see.” She said and David handed over the phone to her.

“That’s it! Oh thank you Holy Spirit. Honey this is it. This is exactly what God wants me to do at this season. Oh thank God for this instruction. Thank you Holy Spirit, thank you!” Belinda said as David joined her to thank God.

MY COMFORT ZONE SEASON 2 : EPISODES 1 – 10

It was 7pm, and time for Rachel’s personal devotion with the Lord.
“Holy Spirit I want to read the words you inspired yourself now, please direct me on where to read today, and teach me your word by yourself.

Lord I bring myself to be a student and I permit you to be my teacher this evening. Please Lord, teach me. I want you to increase in importance in my life while I decrease. Please Lord, teach me today. Help me. In Jesus’ name I’ve prayed. AMEN.” Rachel prayed silently before opening her Bible.

“Holy Spirit you’re not saying anything, I’m not hearing anything. Please drop a Scripture in my heart that you want me to read this evening.” Rachel prayed within as she flipped through the pages of her Bible.

“What do you think you’re doing?” The gentle voice Rachel was familiar with asked her.

“Trying to receive from you.”

“You’re funny sha”

“How?”

“You getting directions from me isn’t going to come out of something you haven’t been practicing overtime.”

“I don’t understand.”

“I’ll explain better. Ever since you’ve known God and given your life to Christ, have you ever sat down like this, flipping the pages of your Bible and suddenly you hear a particular verse of the scripture drop in your spirit?”

“Hmm…no.”

“So why do you think that is going to start now?”

“Hmmm…okay, so what do you suggest?”

“Just behave normal. Be real- if you’re used to reading your Bible, do so. If you’re used to listening to a particular kind of message, do so. I’ll speak to you and give you the directions you seek in a way you’re already used to.” The voice instructed and Rachel obeyed immediately.
She opened her Bible to the Book of John she had intended to read earlier on and began to read.

“Jesus is the light of the world; He that follows Him shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Rachel whispered to herself as she read the verse over and over again.

“Jesus is the light of the world. Because I follow Him, I’m not permitted to walk in darkness, because I have the light of life. Yes, that’s it! I’m not permitted to walk in the darkness of not knowing what to do, not knowing where to go.”

“Jesus, the light of the world, shine your light upon my life.” She heard a prayer point in her spirit.
In no time, she began to pray what she heard.

“Jesus, the light of the world, shine your light upon my life! Jesus, the light of the world, shine your light upon my life!! Jesus, the light of the world, shine your light upon my life!!! In the name of Jesus. When you shine your light upon my life, I shall not walk in darkness. Jesus, shine your light upon my life!!!” Rachel prayed earnestly.

“The light shines in darkness, and darkness comprehended it not.” She heard in her spirit.

“Yes! Wait, I know where that scripture is.” Rachel thought within as she rushed for her Bible and opened to the book of John chapter 1

“Yes! Yes! Yes! The light shines in darkness, and darkness comprehended it not. So when Jesus shines His light upon my life, everything representing darkness in my life gives way, because it can’t comprehend or understand it. Yes! Thank you Jesus.” Rachel said as she burst into tongues and continues her prayers

Alright guys, there’s a little something I want to teach here (I don’t know why I love to use the word “teach”, but then it’s fine.)

So listen when we talk about God leading you, it’d feel like you have to do something out of the ordinary for Him to read or direct you. Nahhhh, it’s not really so. On the contrary, you just have to keep doing what you have been doing, only that you need to spend more time reading your Bible.
Do you understand?
Okay give an illustration for my own life.

So I had this urge in me about two months ago (I think) concerning how I needed the Holy Spirit in my life. Now understand this: Every Christian has the Holy Spirit, but I wanted a greater measure of Him than I already had.

I wanted a real relationship, and to experience talking, gisting and laughing with him you know, all of that.
So after humbling myself and plainly make my request (Holy Spirit I need and want you in my life please), (some days later) I was lying down and was like “God(the Holy Spirit), I haven’t heard from you today, you’re not saying anything.”

And just then I heard a response
“How can you hear me? Have you read your Bible today?”
And that was how I dragged myself to read my Bible and boom, I heard Him plain and clear.
Like, from that simple reading of the Bible, I was joyous….over-joyous sef, because the instructions I received that day ehn….omo, I don’t think I can forget o honestly.

So please don’t stress it, and think you have to do something really extra to hear from God, no. Just keep at your daily devotion to Him, but create an atmosphere for Him to communicate to you by reading your Bible.

Ehe, I want to specially thank Mrs. Mildred Kingsley – Okonkwo for exposing me to other translations of the Bible asides King James. My Bible has become more interesting to me ever since the discovery of other versions.
