“No but that was what I thought. I got to catch a glimpse of what he meant when my sister was terribly sick. We complained to our parents and mom bought drugs for her, following the doctor’s prescription. Instead of getting better, it grew worse and worse.
And through it all, daddy didn’t say anything. He kept waking us up late into the night to pray fervently and read our Bibles for ten minutes before finally going to bed.
When I got tired of seeing my only sister in pain, I questioned why the God we’ve been praying to every night hasn’t taken note of my sister’s illness to heal her. He simply asked me to go and read Matt. 7:7 and James 4:2.”
“Hmmmm…so literally, he referred you back to the Bible.”
“Yes, he referred me back to the Bible. I was annoyed at first- I wanted real answers and not some religious belief stuff. Right there where I stood, he looked at me like he could read my facial expressions.
He then said ‘Son, I got you and your sister from God. God is your source, so if anything happens to any of you, I’d do nothing but refer you back to your source.
I got you and your sister from the word, so I’m referring you back to it.”
“Wow….awesome! So he referred you back to your source”
“Yes exactly, saying that a person’s source is its maintainance.”

Greg was just coming out from room 24 when he sighted someone at the door of room 22.
“Paul what in the world do you think you’re doing here?” He asked in whispers when he walked up to the guy and discovered it was his brother.
“Shhhhhh….bring your voice down; I’m trying to listen to what those two are saying.”
“You know the rules around here, no relationship with the prisoners!”
“I know I know but….they seem to have something we don’t.”
“And what’s that?”
“Peace, and assurance they’d be outta here in no time.”
“Paul please….you’re the only one I have left in this world. Don’t put yourself in trouble over nothing. Let’s head back to our cells before we get caught. We shouldn’t be here for God’s sake.”
“How about we help them?”
“Help them do what?”
“Escape of course.”
“Jesus Christ of Nazareth!”
“Save your soul, and mine.”
“Paul, for goodness’ sake are you out of your mind?”
“I’m not. I’m completely fine.”
“No, I don’t think so. Maybe I need to remind you of Henry. He had this stubborn resolve of escaping this place not knowing we’re all stuck here forever.
Like you, he had the idea of releasing a prisoner with the hope of getting freed as well. Unfortunately he was caught in the act and slaughtered alongside the prisoner he intended helping.”
“Hmmm….”
“So you see? We’re stuck here-forever, with no hope of escape whatsoever.”
“Hmmm….I’m thinking we can be smarter than Henry. Besides, those two carry a certain level of grace that can help us through our plan of escape.”
“Hei God, my heavenly father! Paul are you listening to what I’m saying at all? I said it’s impossible! We’d get killed if we try anything funny”
“We won’t. I’m sure of it.”
