How to use EBT Cards at Wegmans

To use your EBT cards at a Wegmans store all you have to do is shop for items like you usually do bearing in mind that not all items are SNAP-eligible. Some of the items you can purchase with your EBT card include;

• Meat, poultry, and fish

What you can not buy with an EBT card at Wegmans

Here’s a list of some of the items that cannot be bought with an EBT card at Wegmans

• Drugs or any form of health products
• Hot food (prepared foods like burgers)
• Food that can be eaten in the store
• Pet foods
• Vitamins and food supplements 
• Cleaning products

Once you’re done shopping, take your items to the checkout desk and make payments for them with your EBT card. Using the EBT card is the same as any regular debit card; you swipe your card and input your four-digit authorization pin.

Once the payment is confirmed the cost of the items purchased is deducted from your SNAP benefits balance. Any additional items purchased have to be paid for with an alternative mode of payment.

Can an EBT Card be used as Payment for Online Purchases from Wegmans? 

Shoppers can now use EBT cards for online payments at Wegmans. To buy items from Wegmans with an EBT card you have to own an Instacart account.

Once you have a registered account with Instacart, you can proceed to shop for SNAP-eligible items and have them delivered to your doorstep on the same day. You can also choose a curbside pickup.

Wegmans in partnership with Instacart adopted the use of EBT cards as payment for online purchases in March 2022. This addition was done to better improve the accessibility of grocery items to customers.

How to use EBT for Online Purchases at Wegmans 

To use EBT cards for online purchases at Wegmans with Instacart you need to have an Instacart account. After successfully creating an Instacart account, then add your EBT card as a mode of payment on the account. To add your EBT card to your Instacart account, input your card details in the section of your Instacart profile. 

When making payments, choose your EBT card as the preferred card for payment. The usual rules for SNAP-eligible items also apply to online purchases. SNAP benefits do not cover delivery fees, tips, and any other added costs a separate payment method will be required to cover those costs.

To find the nearest Wegmans store input your zip code on your Instacart profile. Once that is done shop as usual and at the checkout point input the number of benefits you would like to payout for the order. Items can be delivered within a short amount of time even as fast as 30 minutes.

Does Wegmans offer refunds for items purchased with EBT cards?

For items purchased online with Instacart, you can contact the Instacart help center. Any refunds made for items bought with EBT cards are paid directly into your SNAP benefits account, no cash refunds are made for items purchased with EBT cards.
